Champion Eye Center originally opened in Asheville in 1997. Now located in Arden, NC, Dr. Mark Jacobs and Dr. Patricia Champion provide professional eye care with a personal touch. Dr. Patty Champion was born and raised in Northeast Pennsylvania. Growing up in the Poconos she learned to love the outdoors, especially skiing. Since the age of 13, Dr. Patty knew she wanted to be an eye doctor and pursued that career starting with her working with a local Optometrist as a senior in high school. Dr. Patty Champion graduated from Wilkes University in Wilkes Barre Pa., with a degree in Biology. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry (now Salus University). After graduating from Optometry school she moved to Asheville, NC with her husband Dr. Andy Champion in 1995. Together they opened Champion Eye Center in 1997. They have one son, Dylan , and currently live in south Asheville. Both Dr’s Andy and Patty Champion serve on the board of directors for the non-profit organization Orbie for Orphans. Dr. Champion is also a member of the American Optometric Society.
Dr. Andy Champion was born and raised in the Pittsburgh, PA area. He has been a sports fanatic all his life especially when it involves Steeler football. He enjoys outdoor activities like running , mountain biking and skiing. Dr. Andy Champion graduated from Allegheny College in Meadville Pa., with a degree in Chemistry. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry (now Salus University). Dr. Andy is involved in coaching youth football and basketball in the South Buncombe Youth Leagues and YMCA. Dr. Andy also serves on the board of directors for the non-profit organization Orbie for Orphans.
Dr. Susanne Kilgo graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Biology. She attended graduate school at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. She was awarded a Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 1979. She has served on the Henderson county Board of Public Health.
